Grey-muzzled dogs in front of a log fire on a winter afternoon. Knitting stripey Christmas stockings for the fireplace. A cup of hot chocolate steaming away somewhere off camera. Watching the fence dry out in an early morning (11am) shaft of slightly warm sunshine. Coffee with a friend in a favourite flower shop: bright flowery colours amidst the frothy coffees and winter coats.
Ain't winter grand? You can cover up lumps and bumps (and bad fashion choices) under a gorgeous winter coat. You can finally buy/make/wear hats and scarves and gloves and wear them even if it isn't that cold. You can trot around town wearing your animal hat (eyes, ears, antlers etc.) no matter what age you are and no-one gives you a second look.
Everything seems to be aimed at sitting still somewhere comfy and warm, which is quite sensible really when it's cold, but when do we normally get the chance?
Dogs get it right though. They also get to practice their Lady Diana look in case biscuits are available...
